How to Prep Your Home for the Arrival of Your Foundation Repair Team
You have been told that your home’s foundation needs some attention, and you are preparing for the arrival of the foundation repair professionals. The question is, should you leave all the prep work to the pros? For the most part, yes, however, there are some things you can do to prepare the foundation and your home before the pros arrive.
Checklist to Prepare Your Foundation Before Repair
Inspect Your Foundation
The first step is performing a complete inspection of the foundations. You may start to find that the windows and doors are starting to jam and that there are cracks along the walls, however, what if the issue runs deeper? Unless you are a trained professional in foundation building and repair, it would not be possible for you to gauge the exact situation as well as a trained expert would.
Prepare the Landscape
Once you have finished determining the primary faults with your foundations, the next thing you need to focus on is to prepare the landscaping. Most foundation repairs will include a great deal of exterior work. Which means your landscape is suffering. If you have plants close to the perimeter of your home, when possible, try to take them out. And even though it is a no-brainer, do not add any new plants or shrubbery until the foundation repair work has been completed. You may also look into hiring landscaping companies to help deal with the removal of the plants.
Clear Around the Foundation
To make it easier for the repair company to work, give them clear access to the interior and exterior parts of your home. This means giving them room to move. And, if you use a crawl space for storage, remember to clean them out.
